Ulead Video Studio 9.0 Video Editing Basics

I'm giving advice based on what works for my computer. I have a 2600 AMD althlon processor, 1 gig memory, Windows XP. I have an assortment of codecs on my computer, Divx6.0Pro, XVID, AVI, Nimo5.0Codecs Pack, ffdshow, ac3filter, and I only have 32 processes running most of the time. All my videos are AVI files and encoded with XVID. I do not work with MPEG files anymore, AVI is faster, smaller, and has less problems with Ulead Video Studio 9.0. (may need to install Divx6.0 pro for AVI files to work on Ulead Video Studio)

I have not tried to rip DVDs with Ulead Video Studio. I use DVDdecrypter and DVDx to encode...So this guide will not have info on ripping or encoding. Though I may add something about batch converting later. Ulead does convert MPEG to AVI and AVI to MPEG. Eventually I do plan to explore the capture options.
